摘要: Abstract Objective To gather current evidence on the use of fiber for constipation treatment in pediatric patients. Source data Systematic review with meta-analysis studies identified through Pubmed, Embase, LILACS and Cochrane databases published up to 2016. Inclusion criteria Randomized controlled trials; patients aged between 1 18 years diagnosed functional receiving or not drug constipation; articles Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German journals accessible researchers. Synthesis A total 2963 were retrieved during search and, after adequate evaluation, nine considered relevant study objective. 680 children included, whom 45% boys. No statistical significance was observed bowel movement frequency, stool consistency, therapeutic success, fecal incontinence, abdominal pain intake childhood constipation. These results should be interpreted care due high clinical heterogeneity methodological limitation selected analysis. Conclusions There is a scarcity qualified evaluate supplementation constipation, generating low degree confidence estimating real effect this intervention population. Today, according literature, only recommended prescribed diet constipated adolescents.
