摘要: Functional constipation (FC) in children is a common health problem with reported worldwide prevalence rates up to 32.2%. The majority of respond oral laxative treatment. After 5 years intensive treatment, however, approximately 50% remain symptomatic. To discuss the evidence for new treatments these children, including pre- and probiotics, pelvic physiotherapy, prucalopride, sacral nerve stimulation, surgery, highlight controversies surrounding them. Pre- probiotics prucalopride are not effective treatment childhood constipation. Pelvic physiotherapy stimulation promising options but larger trials needed. Surgery pediatric last resort. Large, well-designed placebo-controlled proper outcome measures, as suggested by Rome foundation subcommittee on clinical trials, necessary provide more insight regarding efficacy
