摘要: Aim:  To investigate and compare the approach to childhood constipation by primary care physicians (PCP) in three Western countries give insight into adherence current guidelines actual care. Methods:  Prospective study utilizing a two-page survey regarding children suspected have functional (FC). A total of 413 1016 (41%) distributed surveys were returned out which 383 suitable for analysis. Surveys answered anonymously. Survey responses analysed are reported descriptive way. Results:  In Italy, Netherlands, USA, respectively, 75, 187 121 PCP. The majority PCP (62%) considered stool withholding as result painful defecation be most common cause constipation. Rectal examination was used standard diagnostic tool evaluation FC only 31% with significant differences among (p < 0.05) minimum Netherlands (11%). Abdominal X-ray is 49% diagnose FC. 63% convinced that hard can softened drinking more water. Polyethylene glycol prescribed drug (85%). Significant found use senna bisacodyl suppositories (p < 0.05). Conclusion:  practice exist from different performance digital rectal examination, need additional tests laxatives
