摘要: Murray and Waits (2007) respond to a recent publication by Kyle et al. (2006) evaluating hypotheses regarding the evolutionary origins taxonomic status of eastern North American wolves. These authors acknowledge genetic similarity red wolves (Canis rufus) (C. lycaon), yet they are concerned with conservation recommendations within that believe would imperil current wolf recovery efforts. While focus on broader distribution in south central Canada, not wolves, raise several important points lead us examine strategies. Further, we discuss how hybridization between canid taxa should always be negatively viewed, may allow genes persist regions from which otherwise extirpated.
