摘要: Although ESAT-6 was originally identified as a strong T cell immunogen in short-term culture filtrate of Mtb, and has therefore been candidate vaccine antigen for many years, recent work demonstrated that is also virulence factor mediates pathogenicity Mtb. The studies described this review suggest secreted by Mtb subverts host immunity manipulating intracellular signaling pathways macrophages cells, which are critical protection against Furthermore, elicits pro-inflammatory responses can be detrimental to the host. Understanding molecular mechanisms through inhibits will permit design ESAT-6-based constructs elicit protective immune with minimal negative effects.
