摘要: Alcohol abuse causes a wide range of disorders that affect the nervous system. These include confusion, cerebellar ataxia, peripheral neuropathy, and cognitive impairment. Chronic excessive alcohol consumption is primary cause neuropathy. It worth noting neuropathy has no reliable treatment due to poor understanding its pathology. Coasting major feature alcoholic largely chronic abuse. Its features are hyperalgesia, allodynia, burning pain. Even though much research was done in this area, still we do not have full mechanism However, some theories been proposed. direct or indirect effects metabolites, impaired axonal transport, suppressed excitatory nerve pathway activity, imbalance neurotransmitters. Activation spinal cord microglia, mGlu5 receptors, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis also seem be implicated pathophysiology The goal impede further damage nerves while restoring their normal physiology. abstinence, intake balanced diets, with medications suggested including benfotiamine, alpha-lipoic acid, acetyl-l-carnitine, vitamin E, methylcobalamin, myo-inositol, N-acetylcysteine, capsaicin, tricyclic antidepressants, antiepileptic drugs. This review focuses on many pathways play role onset development alcohol-induced as well present possible strategies disorder, providing insights into search new modalities.
