摘要: Inhalation of elevated concentrations CO(2) produces a significant increase in the susceptibility mice to intravenously inoculated Type II poliovirus. The effect is directly proportional concentration; 2.5 minutes inhalation mixture 30 per cent CO(2)-70 O(2) maximal effects, while lower require correspondingly longer periods. threshold level 7 cent; concentrations, even for long periods time, fails enhance virus infectivity. Placing animals atmosphere before injection does not influence susceptibility; must be circulation at time inhaled if enhancement infectivity elicited. completely reversible, disappearing almost immediately upon withdrawal from atmosphere. mediates an entry into CNS but affect spread within CNS; intracerebrally poliovirus influenced by inhalation. mechanism(s) action can explained, part, dilatation cerebral blood vessels and increased rate flow through produced CO(2). However, other factors, which remain unidentified, contribute net relationship between mechanism provoking effects trauma violent exercise poliomyelitis discussed. Also, tension environmental temperatures on proposed.
