摘要: A series of salts the dication, NN′-dimethyl-4,4′-bipyridyl, with anions type MX4n–, where M can be a unibi-, or ter-valent cation and X is chloride, bromide, iodide, has been prepared. Their formulae have obtained chemically in certain cases by complete structure analyses. The absorption spectra solids measured an intermolecular charge-transfer band, from anion to cation, assigned. E.p.r. FeCl42– Cu2Cl42– compound shows that these contain some reduced radical oxidised anion. electrical conductivity this high. relevance observations effect (paraquat) on electron-transfer photosynthesis oxidative phosphorylation discussed.
