摘要: A series of polycyano–polycadmate host clathrates including a methylviologen dication (MV2+), which is strong electron acceptor, and an organic molecule, such as alcohols, haloalkanes, ethers small aromatics, two complexes built MV2+ have been synthesized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments on ten the revealed their 3-D network structures constructed with Cd2+ ions CN− bridges. The are classified into five structure types. Type I, II III were found in clathrates, IV V complexes. I cage-like cavities each includes one guest, or molecule. has channel-like cavity where molecules included. 3-D cavities, shape neither nor channel-like, for embracing MV2+. Although all compounds colorless formation charge transfer complex between neutral guest was not confirmed from data diffuse reflectance spectra, some them showed color change to blue UV irradiation, arose reduction radical cation MV+˙.
