摘要: The breeding biology, behaviour and diet of the Little Eagle Hieraaetus morphnoides were studied throughout 110 hours observation from nest-renovation until early in the nestling period, by analysis prey remains pellets, at three nests New England region northern New South Wales 2006. Supplementary observations and collections food were made a fourth nest, which was also monitored through the nestling post-fledging periods. Egg-laying occurred September (n = 4 clutches). At two nests, incubation (by both sexes, but mostly female) lasted 37–39 days, at one nest dependence period least 8 weeks. Sex-roles, parental behaviour time-budgets each phase (week 1 only period) are described and quantified. Fledgling productivity 0.4 young per pair (1.0 successful pair) in 2006 5 pairs). near Armidale (on Northern Tablelands NSW) 78% mammals (70% Rabbits Oryctolagus cuniculus ), 13% birds and 4% reptiles number (plus unidentified bird/mammal), 94% (80% Rabbits), 5% birds 1% biomass 23 items). Hunting attack behaviour described; one four observed strikes successful.
