摘要: One essential function of epithelia is to form a barrier between the apical and basolateral surfaces epithelium. In vertebrate epithelia, tight junction primary paracellular flow across whereas in invertebrate septate (SJ) provides this function. study, we identify new proteins that are required for functional Drosophila. addition previously known components Coracle (COR) Neurexin (NRX), show four other proteins, Gliotactin, Neuroglian (NRG), both α β subunits Na+/K+ ATPase, formation barrier. contrast previous reports, demonstrate Na pump not localized basolaterally epithelial cells, but instead concentrated at SJ. Data from immunoprecipitation somatic mosaic studies suggest COR, NRX, NRG, ATPase an interdependent complex. Furthermore, observation Drosophila homologue neurofascin, SJ component consistent with notion homologous paranodal These findings have implications only functions, also understanding neuron–glial interactions mammalian nervous system.
