摘要: This study reports the first assessment of organotin pollution in Herault watershed, a medium size Mediterranean basin. Organotin compounds were analyzed surface waters, wells supplying drinking water and sewage treatment plants (STPs). In ground background contamination by total has been identified range 0.51 ± 0.02–71 2 ng(Sn) L−1, which is same order magnitude as those observed other European areas. Organotins systematically present STP influents sludge. Total or partial elimination from treated wastewater was observed. effluents appeared nevertheless to be non-negligible source not only rivers but also aquifers tapped for supply. Tributyltin concentration higher than maximum allowable proposed Commission some waters water. could compromise resource have serious irreversible consequences aquatic eco-system. As it case ban antifouling paints, regulatory regime decreasing point-source emissions these harmful used household products might applied.
