摘要: Unipolar depression might be characterized by a 'low-thyroid function syndrome'. To our knowledge, this is the first study which explores possible relationship of DSM-IV depressive subtypes and medium term outcome, with thyroid function. Material: Thirty major patients (DSM-IV) aged 21–60 years 60 control subjects were included. Clinical Diagnosis: The SCAN v 2.0 IPDE used. psychometric Assessment included HDRS HAS GAF scales. Free-T3, Free-T4, TSH, Thyroid Binding Inhibitory Immunoglobulins (TBII), Thyroglobulin antibodies (TA) Microsomal Antibodies (TMA) measured in serum. Statistical analysis 1 2-way MANCOVA, discriminant Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. All had significantly higher TBII levels comparison to controls. Atypical TMA No significant correlation was observed between HDRS, scales indices. Discriminant produced functions based on indices, could moderately discriminate diagnostic groups, but predict good response treatment 89.47% chance success. Although overt dysfunction not common depression, there evidence suggesting presence an autoimmune process affecting gland
