摘要: It is not at all uncommon for surgeons dealing with breast disease to be confronted the issue of prophylactic mastectomy. Recent advances in understanding genetic basis susceptibility cancer and a better identification histological factors affecting woman's lifetime risk developing have contributed placing mastectomy proper clinical perspective. Existing data suggest that total significantly reduces, but does totally eliminate, subsequent development cancer. However, benefit over alternative strategies (surveillance chemoprevention) remains proven. Currently, may considered few, carefully selected patients. The decision perform should multidisciplinary one. Detailed patient' counselling very important; patient understand limitations need postoperative follow-up. Furthermore, she well informed about strategies.
