摘要: During animal development, cells have to respond appropriately localized secreted signals. Proper responses Hedgehog, transforming growth factor-β, epidermal factor and fibroblast factor/Ras signals require cognate inducible antagonists such as Patched, Dad, Argos Sprouty1. Wnt are crucial in development neoplasia2. Here we show that naked cuticle (nkd), a Drosophila segment-polarity gene, encodes an antagonist for the signal Wingless (Wg). In fly embryos imaginal discs nkd transcription is induced by Wg. embryos, decreased function has effect similar excess Wg; at later stages decrease appears no effect. Conversely, overproduction of Nkd misexpression vertebrate Xenopus laevis result phenotypes resembling those loss Wg/Wnt function. protein with single EF hand (a calcium-binding motif) most recoverin family myristoyl switch proteins. may therefore link ion fluxes regulation potency, duration or distribution Signal-inducible feedback limit effects proteins disease.
