摘要: Objective: To establish the effectiveness of mandibular canine index in predicting sex Western Uttar Pradesh population. Materials and Methods: 200 subjects belonging to population (100 males; 100 females) age group 17-25 yrs were included. Impressions made with alginate study models prepared dental stone. Maximum mesiodistal diameter canines linear distance between tips measured using a Vernier caliper. Observed (MCI o ) was calculated as ratio maximum width arc width. Results: Left exhibited greater sexual dimorphism i.e. 9.05% compared right 8.782%. Sex could be predicted correctly approximately 70% examined. Conclusion: With standard MCI it possible detect an extent about 72%. Hence is considered quick, easy reproducible method for determining individual.
