摘要: Background: Chronic heart failure (CHF) is characterised by increased vascular resistance. This after load on the left ventricle contributes to vicious cycle that leads progression of myocardial failure, multiple organ and death. There evidence for oxidative stress in which will influence myocardium but also peripheral vasculature endothelium. Aims: The aim present study was examine production isoprene, reputed reflect stress, patients with CHF compared control subjects. Methods: Twelve thirty-one healthy subjects free from disease were studied. Breath collected via a two-way non-re-breathing valve into 60-l gas collection bag. A sample ambient air at same time. measured aliquot patient breath (approx. 1.5 l) adsorbed onto adsorption tube packed poropak-Q. Isoprene using GC/MS rate calculated. All samples 10.00 h had been sitting rest 15 min. Results: Breath isoprene significantly reduced controls 83(23) vs. 168(20) pmol min−1 kg−1. Conclusion: Breath does not directly CHF.
