“Drop-in” publishing with the World Wide Web

摘要: Abstract The goal of drop-in publishing is to simplify digital over the Internet. We would like non-commercial matter (e.g. technical reports, course notes, brochures) be as easy sending e-mail now, but with virtues archival storage and searching that we associate electronic libraries. propose a protocol, Dienst, allow communication between clients document servers by encoding object-oriented messages within URL's. A preliminary version this protocol now runs at eight sites, deseribe some its features. Next present tools for automating maintenance collections. Finally, discuss problems we've had Web it stands, hoping motivate changes improve performance library systems such ours.
