摘要: The transcription of genes encoding soluble proteins that reside in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is induced when unfolded accumulate ER. Thus, an intracellular signal transduction pathway must exist mediates communication between ER lumen and nucleus. We have identified a gene S. cerevisiae, IRE1, required for this pathway: ire1- mutants cannot activate KAR2 PDI1, which encode resident BiP protein disulfide isomerase. Moreover, IRE1 essential cell viability under stress conditions cause to encodes transmembrane serine/threonine kinase we propose transmits across or inner nuclear membrane. also inositol prototrophy, suggesting induction coupled biogenesis new
