摘要: Previous results suggest that the glossiness of a surface is systematically underestimated when adjacent highlights from different light sources overlap to such an extent they appear as single, expanded highlight. Here we investigated how availability color- and motion-induced information, which may help unravel merged highlights, affects gloss constancy. We used images computer-generated scenes where complex 3D object made glossy material was illuminated by three point sources, had varying distances each other. The lights were either all achromatic or differed clearly in their color test presented statically rotating. subjects adjust smoothness match single so it appeared have same object. show information contributes constancy this situation: If available, perceived remained almost invariant with changes degree between highlights. This suggests are processed separately. Motion no effect but only led general increase glossiness.
