摘要: Atherosclerosis is the major cause of death in patients with diabetes. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) being most important cholesterol-carrying has been studied extensively both diabetes and non-diabetes. This paper reviews literature but also focuses on precursors LDL particular postprandial apo B-containing lipoproteins. Abnormalities lipoproteins alteration chylomicron assembly clearance are discussed evidence presented suggesting importance dysregulation these atherosclerotic progression. The relationship between production intestine hepatic release very low-density (VLDL) explored, as interrelationship rates size influences its atherogenicity. VLDL composition relation to influence discussed. effect diet fatty acid reviewed. Evidence that diabetic control beneficially alters how improved may reduce atherosclerosis. review concludes a discussion their modification through glycation oxidation macrophage endothelial function.
