摘要: The application of molecular genetics to pediatric soft tissue tumors has grown tremendously over the last decade. It resulted in identification novel genes that have provided us with an increased understanding oncogenesis. Furthermore, these findings identified diagnostic and potentially prognostic factors for patient management. Molecular techniques, such as reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH), become important tools evaluating tumors. By detecting characteristic fusion genes, techniques greatly accuracy histopathological classification. One exciting promises development is their ability detect micrometastasis minimal residual disease. Monitoring disease by quantitative RT-PCR may provide information. potential targeted therapy based on pathology a specific tumor complement existing treatments improve outcome.
