摘要: Moenkhausia is one of the most speciose genera in Characidae, currently composed 75 nominal species small fishes distributed across South American hydrographic basins, primarily Amazon and Guyanas. Despite large number described species, studies involving a substantial its designed to better understand their relationships putative monophyly are still lacking. In this study, we analysed test genus based on phylogenetic analysis DNA sequences two mitochondrial three nuclear genes. The in-group included 29 Moenkhausia, out-group was representatives Characidae other members Characiformes. All belong same clade (Clade C); however, they appear five monophyletic groups along with different genera, which means that polyphyletic indicates necessity an extensive revision group.
