摘要: Lithium has been shown to influence the expression of hundreds genes. Through this regulation, lithium interferes with a large number cellular functions, including inositol metabolism, circadian rhythms, apoptosis and those neuroprotective pathways that are thought play role in pathophysiology bipolar disorder. The mechanisms through which regulates gene still not completely understood. However, converging data suggest transcription factors microRNAs, as well epigenetic factors, may constitute key targets lithium. In chapter, we present discuss most compelling findings on lithium’s effects modulation, emphasizing studies carried out patient-derived cell lines, these have potential highlight genes biomarkers clinical efficacy
