摘要: Forest floor samples were collected in northern hardwood stands 5, 38, 95, and 200+ years old. The seeds contained these germinated a greenhouse. Thirty-five species of herbs, shrubs, trees identified. largest number species, 23, from the 5-year-old stand. oldest stand had fewest 17. Rubus pin cherry (Prunus pensylvanica L.f.) most numerous buried seeds. Their total numbers highest 5- 38-year-old much lower older stands. current practice timber harvesting at rotations 100 or more results moderate densities plants. If short are used, increased may require intensive silviculture practices to ensure adequate stocking high-value species.
