摘要: Summary: Purpose: Although memory, language, and executive functions have been extensively studied in patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE), investigations into advanced social cognitive abilities neglected. In the present study, we investigated ability to detect faux pas possible mediating clinical demographic variables MTLE compared an not originating within healthy controls. Methods: The 27 (16 were pre- 11 postoperatively), extramesiotemporal (except frontal epilepsy), 12 controls performed a shortened version of faux-pas test. Additionally, used standardized tests measure intelligence. Only intact reading-comprehension included study. Results: patients, both postoperative, test significantly worse than controls. latter two groups showed comparable performance. No statistical association was found between patients' deficit recognizing IQ, age, age at seizure onset, duration epilepsy. Conclusions: We report for first time that are specifically impaired pas, suggesting as such is specific etiology deficits higher-order cognition.
