Cultivation of exoerythrocytic stages of Plasmodium cynomolgi, P. knowlesi, P. coatneyi, and P. inui in Macaca mulatta hepatocytes.

摘要: Abstract Exoerythrocytic stage parasites of Plasmodium cynomolgi, P. knowlesi, coatneyi, and inui were cultured by inoculating primary cultures hepatocytes from Macaca mulatta with sporozoites. Less than 1% inoculated sporozoites survived. Morphology size the liver stages in all 4 species similar to vivo descriptions time required for vitro maturation correlated well prepatent periods described.
