摘要: In this article we show that entrainment during the developing stages of deep convection over land is much higher than at equilibrium. A series idealised cloud-resolving model simulations are performed for a range environmental conditions, and these interaction with environment via detrainment rates gradually decreases as day progresses, reverting to values found The themselves depend on humidity stability, also strongly linked cloud size, suggesting representation horizontal growth clouds in convective parametrizations important diurnal cycle. We propose simple new formulation take account findings, improves single-column model, providing more gradual transition towards convection. Copyright © 2011 British Crown copyright, Met Office.
