摘要: Selenium (Se) is a nutritional trace mineral essential for various aspects of human health that exerts its effects mainly through incorporation into selenoproteins as the amino acid, selenocysteine. Twenty-five selenoprotein genes have been identified in humans and several are broadly classified antioxidant enzymes. As progress made on characterizing individual members this protein family, however, it becoming clear their properties functions quite diverse. This review summarizes recent insights such tissue distribution, subcellular localization, regulation expression. Also discussed potential roles different play disease.
