摘要: Background: The state of Rio de Janeiro has been important since 1986 as a portal for the introduction of dengue virus (DENV) into Brazil and dissemination throughout country. This study describes an active surveillance DENV in from 2004 to 2008. Method: A total 14 408 samples patients suspected be infected with were tested by virus isolation, nested reverse transcriptase (RT)-PCR assay or anti-DENV dengue IgM antibody capture ELISA (MAC-ELISA), both. Results: By use these different methods, 2324 (16.1%) cases confirmed infection. The covers an inter-epidemic period (2004–2005), DENV-3 circulation 2006, re-emergence of DENV-2 2007 severe epidemic caused summer 2008. During period, 69 dengue fatal reported, (20.2%) deaths being attributable 55 (79.7%) DENV-2. Conclusion: Our results emphasize role laboratory early detection transmission and provide information on dynamics spread, assessment of intervention strategies.
