摘要: Research on shiftwork has shown that fatigue and related performance problems increase at night. In Australia, this lead to calls limit night work for long distance heavy vehicle drivers. However the evidence diminished among drivers is equivocal, risks posed need be weighed against different safety inherent in daytime driving. This study sought directly compare impact of day shift rosters going about their normal work. Self-reported increased similarly over week all drivers, but more individual shifts than shifts. There were also indications slowing response speed effect was not short, made feel tired shifts, did produce significantly poorer performance, suggesting can manage fatigue. Whether these results would apply working types irregular common long-haul road transport industry requires further investigation.
