摘要: An increased risk for gastric cancer in patients with liver cirrhosis has recently been reported epidemiological studies. The present endoscopic study was performed to further evaluate whether people are at development. We reviewed the medical records of all cirrhotic referred our Endoscopic Service portal hypertension screening and, therefore, cases latent were observed. For a comparison, prevalence (age and sex standardized) general population estimated hypothesizing latency period 5 years. Overall, 1379 selected from total 15 791 endoscopically examined different observed during 1982-1997. Histological assessment revealed presence 10 (9 males 1 female). There significant 2.6-fold (P<0.01) increase compared that expected patients. In conclusion, findings confirm would seem be factor development cancer. Other studies needed pathogenic mechanisms involved.
