摘要: Objective. —To evaluate the relationship between ankle/arm blood pressure index (AAI, ratio of ankle to arm systolic pressure, a measure peripheral arterial disease) and short-term cardiovascular morbidity mortality in older adults with hypertension. Design. —Prospective cohort study, 1- 2-year follow-up (mean, 16 months). Setting. —Eleven field centers from Systolic Hypertension Elderly Program. Participants. —1537 men women Main Outcome Measures. —All-cause mortality, coronary heart disease (CHD) (CVD) CHD CVD mortality. Results. —The AAI was measured at 1989-1990 clinic examination 0.9 or less 25.5% 1537 participants. A low associated most major risk factors. In those (≤0.9) compared an more than 0.9, age- sex-adjusted relative risks for end points were as follows: total 3.8 (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.1 6.9); 3.24 CI, 1.4 7.5); 3.7 1.8 7.7). For 2.5 1.5 4.3). After adjustment baseline other factors, 4.1 2.0 8.3) 2.4 1.3 4.4). Results similar when participants clinical excluded. Conclusion. —A appears be important predictor among (JAMA. 1993;270:487-489)
