Influence of the leptin and cortisol levels on craving and smoking cessation

摘要: Leptin inhibits cortisol release and may increase the craving for cigarettes, hindering process of smoking cessation. We evaluate influence initial concentration serum leptin on status in individuals after one month treatment The was adjusted by Initial Body Mass Index (BMI) (leptin/BMI) percentage body fat (%BF) (leptin/%BF). assessed using Questionnaire Smoking Urges-Brief (QSU-Brief). QSU-Brief about a score factor 1 (positive reinforcement tobacco), 2 (negative tobacco). Correlation found between (Factor 2) with leptin/BF% among those who continued to smoke. There negative correlation levels leptin/%BF remained smokers month. positive leptin/BMI women (r=0.565; p=0.023) abstinent (r=0.551; p=0.033). highest concentrations were associated greater difficulty achieve abstinence.
