摘要: Abstract Background: Leptin has been shown to regulate food intake and energy expenditure. Because leptin acts via regulation of appetite, we studied the hypothesis that suggests modulates craving for alcohol as well. Methods: We plasma concentrations (RIA) both in alcoholic subjects during inpatient detoxification (day 1: n = 78, day 14: 60) healthy control (n 30). To rule out interference with activation HPA axis withdrawal, also evaluated cortisol levels (RIA). Results: found elevated at onset decreasing significantly up 14. (and body-mass corrected ratio leptin/BMI) was highly correlated self-rated craving. No correlations BMI were observed. Conclusions: suggest may modulate withdrawal-induced subjects.
