摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the safety of drugs used to treat major diseases in pregnant women and reviews data reproductive developmental consequences therapeutic drug exposures human nonhuman primates. The greatest progress defining fetal risk from maternal exposure can be elucidated studies teratogenic effects xenobiotics animal models scientific review retrospective outcome populations. Many are consumed during pregnancy manage pre-existing chronic illnesses, pregnancy-related diseases, cure acute bacterial fungal infections or other conditions that occur gestation. medical problems affect large numbers include pregnancy-induced hypertension preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, depression. Altered metabolism may lead higher lower potentially harmful metabolites when compared nonpregnant state a species-specific manner. One most important methodological aspects designed investigate is identification appropriate model. primate model for determining levels changes disposition pregnancy, because physiological poorly reflected rodent.
