摘要: Objectives To characterize demographic, clinical and serological parameters in recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) patients analyse their association with serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels. Subjects Methods Forty-nine RAS responded to a questionnaire that included demographic background, stress status, smoking habits, history course of episodes. They were also subjected relevant laboratory tests, including determination IgE levels. Results A familial was reported by 47.9% the patients, previous year 51.1% 18.4%. Non-Caucasian origin, RAS, associated increased severity Haematological deficiencies observed 18.7% patients. Average levels significantly with younger age, ≤12 years schooling, female gender, RAS episode frequency every 2 weeks, early onset episodes elevated C reactive protein levels. Conclusion Immunoglobulin may be considered as part patient's work-up. Further research is needed identify biological mechanisms account for associations.
