摘要: The historical challenge of environmental impact assessment (EIA) has been to predict project-based impacts accurately. Both EIA legislation and the practice have evolved over last three decades in Canada, development discipline science improved how we apply complex projects. integrates social natural sciences relies on an eclectic knowledge base from a wide range sources. methods tools provide means structure integrate order evaluate impacts.----- This Chapter will brief overview are identified predicted. How do determine what aspect environment be affected when mine is excavated? does practitioner potential impacts, assess whether they significant, consequences? There no standard answers these questions, but there established foundation for scoping predicting project.----- Of course, community publics play important role this process, discussed subsequent chapters. In first part chapter, deal with identification, which involves appplying critical issues determining significance, baseline ecosystem evaluation techniques, communicate impacts. second discuss prediction relation complexity environment, ecological risk assessment, modelling.
