摘要: Introduction The temporomandibular disorder (TMD) consists of a set signs and symptoms that affect the masticatory structures, which may cause joint and/or muscular pain. physiotherapy approach aims at pain relief functional recovery by means several modalities. Objective To investigate effects, short medium-term, multimodal physiotherapeutic on TMD diagnosis severity.Methodology Individuals with TMD, confirmed Axis I RDC/TMD, took part in study. From this evaluation, Temporomandibular Index (TMI) its sub-indices were calculated. participants treated during ten sessions physiotherapy, included therapeutic ultrasound, thermotherapy, manual therapy, stretching neuromuscular exercises, as well self-care home exercises instructions. Assessments carried out before treatment (AV1), immediately after (AV2) two months end (AV3). values indices prevalence compared between different periods t paired test (p < 0.05).Results number diagnoses reduced all subgroups 41.7% 24 presented no treatment. A significant decrease TMI was observed AV1 AV2 = 0.000). There difference AV3 0.204) 13 assessed treatment. Conclusion resulted positive clinical signs, deletion dysfunction or reduction severity patients.
