摘要: Radiofrequency thermal ablation (RFA) is a new, minimally invasive technique offered in the treatment of various neoplasms. RFA produces ionic agitation within area to be treated, resulting heating neoplastic tissue using radiofrequency generator. Well defined areas coagulative necrosis are formed, thereby destroying tumor. Percutaneous CT-guided was performed 34 patients with 69 lung Six were affected by primary Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), and 28 presented metastatic nodules originating solid tumors. Patients considered ineligible for surgery following reasons: medical comorbidities; technical reasons; severe respiratory insufficiency; refusal surgery. Adequacy assessed CT-Scan Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) gadolinium. A median follow-up 9 months (3-25 months) resulted 30 evaluable response total 63 58 which achieved complete necrotic response. Relapse occurred 5/63 treated nodules. In 2 these patients, relapse exclusively nodules, whereas other 3 as well at distant sites. alive disease free. Pneumothorax requiring pleural drainage main complication, observed 16% sessions. has shown itself safe feasible option neoplasms otherwise The high rate responses obtained our study (92%) suggests that further investigation RFA, combined chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy warranted objective improving local control survival rates.
