摘要: Vulvovaginal candidosis (VVC), caused mainly by the yeast Candida albicans, is second most prevalent vaginal infection. It has been found to have a large impact on women's quality of life, self-esteem and routines. The prevalence recurrent vulvovaginal (RVVC) remains high so development alternative treatments needed. main objective this study was develop characterize sodium bicarbonate gels treat VVC. We described key formulation characteristics analyzed their influence in vitro performance evaluations. potential inhibit albicans's growth, pH, osmolality, viscosity rheological contact with fluid simulant bioadhesion's profile (using ex vivo porcine model) were studied for all formulations. Among formulations, C (5% bicarbonate, 1% carbomer 94% water) effective inhibiting C. albicans' growth. This gel presented same (the MIC 2.5%) other etiological agents VVC (C. glabrata, krusei, tropicalis parapsilosis) species tested. Additionally, sensorial accord users' preferences. exhibited physicochemical acceptable short term treatments, suggesting good overall treatment Furthermore, Gel biocompatible HeLa cell line (MTT assay) classified as non-severe irritant HET-CAM assay (irritation score 4 ± 1). Overall, deemed best performing set tested, suitable further development.
