摘要: Background Chagas disease (CD) is an endemic zoonosis that occurs in Latin-America and caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. Early detection of T. cruzi liver transplant recipients at risk may avoid complications from CD. The aim this study was to examine pre-operative evaluation follow-up CD after transplantation (LT) patients using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) for cruzi. Methods Between January 2009 June 2016, 13 (12.7%) 102 LTs performed without specific postoperative prophylaxis were prospectively evaluated qPCR Four seronegative received livers seropositive donors (R-/D+) 9 (R+/D-). A cohort 89 during same time period analyzed as controls. Results A positive prior LT found 2/9 (22.2%) recipients, both achieved early response therapy. cumulative incidence parasitemia higher R+/D- than R-/D+ (37.7% vs 0%, P = .17). with therapeutic manifestations acute outcomes 1 year similar controls not CD. Conclusion A small proportion cruzi-seropositive candidates presented before LT. After LT, allowed leading use preemptive therapy all replication. No cases occurred R-/D+.
