摘要: Eight mares were infected with equid herpesvirus-1 subtype 1 isolated from a case of equine paresis. In two killed at 4 d.p.i. immunofluorescence showed endothelial cell infection together thrombosis in the rete arteriosus nasal mucosa and also spinal cord one these mares. Circulating platelet counts other six fell as early 2 remained depressed for seven days. immune complexes started to appear d.p.i., reached maximum levels 10 but undetectable 28 Three remaining developed varying degrees inco-ordination 8 9 inco-ordinate that haemorrhages brain associated extensive fluorescence thrombus formation. Clinical paresis coincided an increase circulating complement fixing neutralising antibodies which all higher against isolate than 1. five yearlings EHV-1 normal neither nor viraemia, detected.
