摘要: WE have previously reported that significant amounts of immunoreactive (ir)-Leu5-enkephalin were present in extracts the neurointermediate lobe rat pituitary1. Negligible pentapeptide detected anterior lobe. In these assays, concentration Leu5-enkephalin was higher than globus pallidus, brain region to contain densest enkephalinergic innervation2. The high content (ir)-Leu-enkephalin pituitary led us further investigation its distribution and possible function. We report here (ir)-enkephalins are concentrated nerve fibres projecting from hypothalamus pars nervosa this pathway may be involved regulation neurohypophysial neurosecretion.
