摘要: Background Although a variety of technical and clinical problems capsule endoscopy have been reported, their incidence importance are unknown. The objective was to evaluate the type such events. Methods This retrospective analysis 733 consecutive examinations at 4 large referral centers. main outcome measurements were that classified as "technical," i.e., related functioning equipment, "clinical," patient characteristics. For each event, causes impact on ability reach diagnosis examined. Results A total 183 recorded in 174 patients (23.7%): one problem occurred 165 patients, two 9 patients. In 8.46% limitations or failures, complications prevented hampered diagnosis. Technical (e.g., gaps recordings, short duration batteries, failure downloading) early phase use 8.6% 2.9%. Clinical (difficulty/inability swallow capsule, incomplete small-bowel examination) 16.4% 6.4%. Capsule retention required surgical endoscopic retrieval 1.9% cases. Conclusions rare very small number majority failures an examination.
