摘要: High diversity and endemism in the California Floristic Province (CFP) are an alleged response to late Cenozoic advent of Mediterranean-type climate this region. Ceanothus comprises two divergent subgenera with centers CFP. We reconstruct evolution by using DNA sequence data from nuclear gene nitrate reductase. find that timing diversification events is related geological climatic history. In both subgenera, characterized recent divergence extant taxa geographically structured phylogenetic relationships. A strong north-south subgenus Cerastes across Transverse Ranges indicates relationships may be climatically regions Divergence-time estimation suggests age ∼6 Ma.
