摘要: Abstract The use of benzodiazepine sensitivity testing in the management 40 children with intractable seizure disorders was studied. aetiology and clinical syndromes varied widely myoclonic, atonic complex absence seizures predominating. Twenty-five cases had mixed disorders. There was, likewise, a wide range EEG abnormalities. Seven were non-convulsive status at time testing. Diazepam (0.2 mg/kg) given slowly intravenously its effect on observed. In 21 epileptiform activity abolished. No change seen 13 an unusual result 3. paradoxical response 3 cases, two these associated seizures. Only 1 child positive result. Following testing, 32 patients went to long-term oral treatment. Twenty-one showed subsequent improvement 16 (76%) test previously. Eleven did not improve out 11 (64%) negative test. These results suggest that is value childhood, but also emphasise variability unpredictability
