摘要: Background The presence of signet-ring cell component has been described as a prominent feature EML4-ALK positive non-small lung cancer. We investigated the clinicopathologic features and survival outcome primary carcinoma (SRC) with comparison to adenocarcinoma lung. Methods Retrospective population-based analysis histologically diagnosed SRC in California Cancer Registry between 1989 2006 Results Two hundred sixty-two were compared 50,089 patients adenocarcinoma. Patients significantly younger than adenocarcinoma, higher proportion poorly differentiated tumor stage IV disease. There was no difference distribution gender ethnicity among when Subset available smoking status revealed never smokers comprised (30.8%) (11.0%; p = 0.0013). Never tended be trend improved (median age=55 years, median overall [OS] 8 months) ever age=59 OS=4.5 months). had decreased OS (versus adenocarcinoma; unadjusted hazard ratio=1.507; 95% confidence interval: 1.326-1.714; 0.0030). Conclusions Primary is rare subtype carries worse prognosis shares many recently identified characteristics ascribed
