Effect of Environmental Conditions on the Yield of Peel and Composition of Essential Oils from Citrus Cultivated in Bahia (Brazil) and Corsica (France)

摘要: The cosmetic and fragrance industry largely exploits citrus essential oils (EOs) because of their aromatic properties. EO compositions are complex differ between fruit pericarp (PEO) leaf (LEO). Citrus grow in many countries under very different climates. Seventeen cultivars were selected similarities the two collections verified by SSR (Single Sequence Repeat) InDel (Insertion Deletion) markers to assess effects environment cultivation practices on yield composition. LEOs PEOs extracted water distillation analyzed GC-MS. PEO yields generally higher Corsica than Bahia, especially citron family. this family richer limonene Bahia while, conversely, neral, geranial derivatives present a proportion Corsican varieties. A few minor components site-specific, such as nookaton, pummelo-specific compound that was not grapefruit cultivated Bahia. If climate change over last 20 years has affected composition Corsica, contrasted environmental conditions cultural could possibly explain variations.
