摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes the motions of membrane molecules over time scales 10 -12 s to a few seconds and distance from -9 -4 cm. The smaller-scale are most readily understood. Flexing acyl chains, local disorder lipids, allows conformational changes in proteins required for their functioning. Motions on this scale probed directly magnetic resonance experiments indirectly when enzyme or receptor activity is changed by lipid composition apparent viscosity. Membrane viscosity appears affect movements nm (a molecular diameters) 1000 so. Rotational diffusion fair agreement with expectations size lipids. In contrast, laterally long distances often much slower than anticipated
